(1Pe 4:17) For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
It has been said pretty much throughout all of my life but I believe now more than ever the words ring true. “We are living in the Last Days”. COVID 19 has ravaged the lives of people around the world and as of my writing today President Biden has tested positive for COVID 19. Inflation is running rapid throughout the country if not the world. Mass shootings and killings in general is at an all time high in America. So, in the midst of everything going on where is the church? Where is that beacon of hope city on a hill? For some they are on task heeding the master’s call and for others they are MIA. It’s amazing even astounding the number of clergy taken out by COVID 19. As found in various scriptures we’ll say neither good or bad in relationship to this fact.
One of the consistent signs of the early church was that of miracles. How often are true miracles occurring in our churches. In times of national distress, the nation should be able to turn to the church. A nation full of churches with power could pray COVID19 out of existence. However, one of the major discussions across the nation amongst church people is whether or not we should tithe. Have we gotten so wrapped up in maintaining our church structures to the point that we’ve forgotten the mission. Jesus left clear instructions as to what his concerns were. You can find them in the Book of Matthew (Mat 25:35) For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: (Mat 25:36) Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Our scripture text let’s us know in these last days judgment is going to begin at the house of God. How do we and I said we how do our churches measure up? How do we as followers of Christ measure up? Right now, would the lord say “ Come, ye blessed of my Father or depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. Right now, we are living in extremely trying times. Can or will our churches rise up and meet the challenges ahead? During the 2016 presidential election season I was troubled in my spirit because I was not impressed with either candidate. It was during this time that I had a dream people were breaking into homes and by passing the valuables but stealing food. 2023 is seven years from 2016 we may be headed for even times worse than they are now. No matter how difficult times are and may become God always has and will have a remnant of those following him. I don’t know about you, but I want to be part of God’s remnant Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.
