Throw out the Trash from The Past

(Php 3:13) My brothers, I do not count myself to have taken possession, but one thing I do, forgetting the things behind and reaching forward to the things before,

(Php 3:14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Whenever we transition in life whether it’s going from one year to another, or one relationship to another, one job to another, even when we celebrate our annual anniversary of life our birthday. Often times we carry with us the pains, troubles, and mistakes of the past. It’s hard to move forward or to break free when we carry the negative trash of our past. Our spiritual, physical, and emotional well being depends on what we maintain in our minds. What occupies our mind can have a dire affect on our daily lives. If our thoughts are constantly on the negative it can have a major affect on us. Constantly laboring mentally on our situations and problems of the past can and will keep us in a rut. We’ll never have the peace of mind and joy that God wants for us when we dwell in the past.

Each day, week, month, and year that we’re blessed with is another opportunity to experience all of the best that God has planned for us. One scripture that I’ve been holding on to recently is (Psalms 34:19) Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Jehovah delivers him out of them all. We can apply this verse to any problem or situation that we face in life. God can and will deliver us from whatever the situation may be. Whether it’s our health, finances, relationships, emotional problems whatever they are. God can and will deliver us if we just exercise our faith. However, when our mind is full of negativity such as the mistakes and problems of our past, we stifle the work of the Holy Spirit.

God wants us to focus on the assurances and promises of his word. His desires are always for our good and not to our detriment. We must go to God in prayer and seek his help in order for us to rid ourselves of the trash from our past. Follow the scripture text that we’ve posted make every effort to put the past behind you and keep pressing. When we focus on the assurances and promises of God the best is ahead of us. Keep on pressing keep on pushing let the assurances and promises of God’s word occupy your thoughts and you’ll make it. Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.
