(Psalms 34:19) Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Jehovah delivers him out of them all.
In this life that we live there are good times and bad times. Happy times and sad times. There are times when it may seem like the only constant thing in our life is trouble or as found in our scripture text afflictions. So, what are afflictions? Afflictions may show up in our lives in various forms. It could be in the form of sickness, poverty, persecution, or almost anything that prevents us from living a normal trouble-free life. Often when we are being afflicted misery seems to be our constant companion we tend to forget the promises of God’s word.
Another thing we tend to forget is that in the past we faced tough times and situations. Yet somehow some way we made it through. Now one thing to remember when referring to scripture is that God’s promises and assurances are for those who have accepted the free gift of salvation. Personally, I don’t understand how people go through this life without Christ in their life. I was born with health issues and even as I’m writing this I’m currently dealing with some. I had parents who knew the Lord and they prayed for me as I faced various illnesses and sickness growing up. I have a history of God delivering me time after time whether it was a health issue, a money issue, relationship problems, mental problems. You name it God delivered me through and from it.
If you are a Christian and doing your best to live a life pleasing to God. Our scripture text lets you know that you are going to face many afflictions in this life. The same may go for and probably does for those who are not Christians. The difference is the non-Christian does not have the promise of God’s deliverance. There are some that believe when a Christian passes away due to an affliction in this life that they have received their healing or deliverance in the form of eternal life. I don’t agree God wants to and does deliver us in this life. We can’t tell others of God’s deliverance in heaven we tell others about God’s deliverance in this life. God delivers us in this life in order that we’ll share our stories to others who will hopefully give their lives to Christ.
No matter what type or form of affliction you may be facing or face in the future remember the promise of our scripture text. (Psalms 34:19) Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Jehovah delivers him out of them all. There is deliverance for you trouble won’t last always take hold of the promises of God’s word. God loves you and cares so much for you. He doesn’t want us to suffer he wants us to live a drama and trouble-free life. However, we live in a sinful and evil world. There will be afflictions in this life but there is a Great Day coming a day when Christ himself will put an end to all of the troubles and afflictions of this life.
Father in heaven we come boldly to your throne of Grace there are so many who are suffering under the afflictions of this life your humble servant included. Lord I come standing on the promises of your Holy Word found not only in our scripture text but throughout your Word. Lord deliver us from the afflictions that are attacking our body, mind, and spirit. Father we Thank You for your Grace and Mercy we ask that you help us in the name of Yeshua Jesus The Christ. Once we receive our deliverance we’ll tell others what you’ve done for us in order that they may look to you for deliverance. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Amen and Amen.
