(Php 3:13) My brothers, I do not count myself to have taken possession, but one thing I do, forgetting the things behind and reaching forward to the things before,
(Php 3:14) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Sometimes the main thing that keeps us from reaching our goals or being successful in the present is our past. At each age and stage in life we should always be ready for something new. I find it amazing how I find people in their 40’s 50’s even 60’s who still talk about their accomplishments when they were in high school or college. To be honest there are times when I find myself doing the same thing. I really appreciate the ministry of Dr. Charles Stanley who in his 80’s is still active and relevant. I was watching a special program where his son did a one on one interview with him in correlation with his 85th birthday. Paraphrasing the conversation Dr. Stanley said that at each stage of life we need to evaluate where we are at and be looking for what’s next on this journey of life. He felt that we should always be doing something and stay active until the lord calls us home.
Our past often hinders us from moving forward and moving on. Whether our past was full of glory or racked with pain. Our mission in the present as well as the future should be to keep moving and remain active and relevant. If you are blessed to be alive then you really should be living. As Dr. Stanley stated in one of his messages as soon as you feel you are done with life your body reacts and starts to break down. God can and will use us at any age and stage of this life if we are willing to be used. Stop looking back, I don’t care if you won the Super Bowl or an Academy award. I don’t care if you past was full of pain, hurt, disappointment, and abuse.
You are alive today and God wants to live. (Joh 10:10) The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. God wants you to be healthy and blessed he does not want you to be miserable, unhappy, unhealthy, and suffering. Allow the Holy Spirit to help you right now to get the best and the most out of this life. If you don’t know the lord in the forgiveness and pardon of your sins. (Joh 3:16) For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (Joh 3:17) For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. (Rom 10:9) Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. No matter whether you are saved or sinner right now in your life it just may be time to move on. Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.
