(Mat 24:6) And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for all these things must occur; but the end is not yet.
Recently I’ve been watching a lot of AHC channel. There have been numerous programs chronicling the events leading up to and throughout World Wars I & II. Today July 28, 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of WWI which was supposed to be the war to end all wars. According to About.com “the spark that started World War 1 was the assassination of Austria’s Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. The assassination occurred on June 28, 1914 while Ferdinand was visiting the city of Sarajevo in the Austro-Hungarian province of Bosnia-Herzegovina”. At the start of the war, the allied Forces were France, the United Kingdom, Russia the central powers were Germany and Austria-Hungary.
The United States did not get involved in WWI until April 6, 1917 an estimated 10 million soldiers died in WWI one of the bloodiest wars in history. The Versailles Treaty was signed at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month 1918. A number of its terms were so controversial that it laid the ground work for WWII. World War II started on September 1 1939 and ended on September 2 1946. One interesting thing to note is that Japan did not officially sign a formal peace treaty until 1951 and Germany until 1990. To date World War II is the deadliest war known to man with between with an estimated 50 to 70 million people dying as a result of the war worldwide.
As we look at current events worldwide there are definitely wars and rumors of wars everywhere. One can only shutter at the thought of human loss should WWIII break out in the near future. In fact that is what some biblical scholars are saying. They believe that the next event on the prophetic calendar is WWIII. World War III may very well be the war which is mentioned in scripture Revelation chapter nine, verse 15: “And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.” Some feel that this is a reference to a possible World War III http://www.endtime.com/world-war-three/ I must admit there is merit to the various theories and opinions being raised as far as the likelihood of WWIII happening in the very near future.
So what should we be doing if World War is imminent? First of all we should always be praying and spreading the gospel to all willing to listen and hear. Secondly it may be wise to prepare for food shortages, gas shortages etc. should a World War actually break out. In all my studies of scripture I have yet to figure out America’s role? A few years after the close of World War I The League of Nations was formed in order to promote world peace and prevent another terrible World War. In spite of their best efforts World War II came. After the end of World War II the United Nations was formed in order to bring and foster peace and yet often their efforts fail. I believe that after World War III the anti-Christ will take the stage promising world peace and of course according to scripture there will be three and a half years of false peace. We are definitely living in a period of time where scripture is daily being fulfilled before our eyes. The Lord is coming much sooner than many believe. Are you ready for his return? Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.
