(Luke 15:14) And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land. And he began to be in want. (Luke 15:15) And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country. And he sent him into his fields to feed pigs. (Luke 15:16) And he was longing to fill his belly with the husks that the pigs ate, and no one gave to him.
To just about anyone who has attended church at one time or another, these scripture verses are very familiar. It is the often told story of the prodigal son. This story has been preached probably thousands of times if not millions however it never gets old. There are people everywhere that can relate to this story they might have experienced similar in their lives or had a loved one or friend who acted out this very story in real life.
When things are going well in life you have plenty of friends, relatives, associates, hangers on, moochers, and you name it. You don’t have to waste your money as the prodigal son did. Just get fired or laid off from your job, or get divorced, sick, or just go through a tough spell in life. It is during those times that you find out who is really with you. Someone could convince you to take a new job or move to a different city because things are better there. When things don’t work out as advertised you find out who is truly with you. Scripture says (Pro 17:17) A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for the time of trouble. It is a real blessing to have people that will stick with you through thick and thin even when you are wrong they will stand by your side not condoning but also not condemning. I can remember when a mentor of mine was unjustly let go from a job. His wife encouraged him to hang in there she worked while he repositioned himself she even gave him weekly spending money until he turned things around.
If you find yourself in a tough situation, money is gone friends and relatives can’t be found Jesus will never leave you or forsake you he is as close as a simple prayer. You don’t have to say a bunch of flowery phrases or words you may really be frustrated and despondent just say “Lord Help” he already knows what you’re going through he knew from the beginning of time that this moment was coming in your life. Your friends may be gone and those who you always thought would be there have disappointed you. However God is still on the throne he loves and cares for you he will never leave you or forsake you if you are one of his children. If things are tough and you don’t know Jesus then maybe it’s time that you get to know him!!! Allow him to come into your heart today he is waiting on you no matter who you are or what you’ve done he still died for your sins and he wants to have fellowship with you. If you’re down and out he wants you he loves you and he’ll turn things around for you if you let him Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike
