(Pro 22:6) Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Parenting never has been easy but I commend parents today that are actually spending the time to teach, train, and raise their children. For the last few days there has been a lot of talk about Miley’s Cyrus’s performance on VMA. While I did not see the performance I did see various clips and images from it. As a parent I feel for hers, I would be so embarrassed if one of my children had made such a spectacle of themselves on national probably international TV. There is no way that they could be proud of their daughter’s provocative performance. At the same time they must collectively show her unconditional love. Hear me now they should not in no way condone or support her performance at the same time they should show her love.
If she were my child I would probably say nothing unless she asked me what I thought all the time knowing that I was not pleased. I have no idea how she was raised in the past as a producer I tended to stay clear of producing gifted youth. I always felt that young people needed to grow and mature before being exposed to all the glitter and glamour of the industry. I saw first-hand how fame affected people who were exposed to the business at an early age, some over the years never developed socially. However there is hope for those who have been properly raised and trained our text gives us hope it assures us that when they are old they will not depart from a sound upbringing. That’s not to say they won’t stray during the years. It assures us that as they mature and grow older and wiser they won’t depart from sound training and teaching.
Miley is probably the poster child for a generation of young ladies who have been raised by the media. A generation that for some, society has failed them. The church has failed them also there is always an outcry against abortion but barely a murmur these days when it comes to pre-marital sex. The end is near because as a nation we have lost our moral compass. The boundaries of decency are always being pushed to the point where eventually it will be anything goes. There was a time when no one would have seen Miley’s performance because as it started to become raunchy it would have been black out by the network.
The Bible says (Mal 3:7) From the days of your fathers, you have turned aside from My statutes, and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you, says Jehovah of Hosts. But you say. In what way shall we return? Just like Miley there are young ladies and young men all over this nation and around the world who are confused. They really don’t know who they are or what their real purpose in life is. They don’t need for us to remind them of how messed up they are they already know that. What they need is a hug they need to know that not only does God love and care for them they need to know that we do to. They need to know that the rest and peace of mind they are looking for can be found in Christ. (Mat 11:28) Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Life is a load for many young people and young adults these days. However Jesus is there to give them rest from the cares and concerns of today. If you know Miley or someone like Miley don’t tell them how messed up they are they already know that give them a hug. Tell them that you love them but God loves them so much more and he’s waiting to talk with them heart to heart. Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.
