You Can Take It With You !!! (updated)

(Rev 14:13) And I heard a voice from Heaven saying to me, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they shall rest from their labors, and their works follow them.

With the recent passing of Prince I thought sharing this again would be appropriate. The Lord is soon to come and Death itself is dying. (Rev 9:6)  And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. None of us are here to stay and nature itself shows us and bares witness to the fact that there must be something after this life.  One Sunday I was listening to Pastor Culp as he preached a sermon that focused on the Character of those who consider themselves Christians. His sermon caused me to reflect and meditate on the above scripture. When all has been said and done when we reach the end of this life a lot of what we think matters really doesn’t.

I was watching OWN one night and Oprah interviewed Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris Jackson with the legacy her Dad left it still effects her life today and probably always will. However when Michael Jackson ( Recently Prince also) left this earth the awards, albums sold and all of his fame and fortune did not matter, it really wasn’t important. What did matter was first of all did he know Jesus and did Jesus know him. Secondly if in fact he did know the Lord and the Lord knew him what he took from this life was not his accomplishments but the good that he had done. People always post RIP or RIH on Facebook and other internet websites however none of us knows for sure where people wind up once they leave here

No matter who you are and where you station in life might be, the only thing that you can take with you is the good that you have done while you were here. Jesus said (Mat 6:19) Do not lay up treasures on earth for yourselves, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. (Mat 6:20) But lay up treasures in Heaven for yourselves, where neither moth nor rust corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal (Mat 6:21) For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

No matter what you acquire here you can’t take it with you. Not your mansions, your cars, Super Bowl Rings, Grammy Awards, exclusive private club memberships everything that you currently see, feel, or touch all one day will be no more on this earth including yourself. Yet that smile that you gave, the kind words that you shared, those moments that you helped a stranger, relative, or friend. Those hours you spent helping others for nothing not even a Thank You. Those fights that you could have had but chose not too. The love that you shared that you never received back. The times that you spent helping those who you knew really did not love or care about you. Every good deed whether noticed or unnoticed they all live on. You can take all of the good with you and there are treasures unimaginable waiting for you, for the good that you do and have done. That being said all the good you have done won’t get you into Heaven only the acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal savior. That’s the only way you at life’s end you will translate from Life to Life eternal Tis so sweet to know and trust Jesus.

So don’t be discouraged be encouraged. Don’t stop doing good even when talked about, ridiculed, cheated and mistreated. PayDay is coming soon and the check won’t bounce. Most importantly make sure that you know Jesus and more importantly that He Knows You Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.
