(1 John 2:15) Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him,
(1 John 2:16) because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
(1 John 2:17) And the world passes away, and the lust of it, but he who does the will of God abides forever.
(Mark 9:40) For he who is not against us is for us.
I kept hearing about the TV Show Sweetie Pies which is aired on the OWN channel so I decided to watch a few episodes I’m not a big reality show fan to begin with and Sweetie Pies did nothing to change my view of reality TV. However there was a scene in one episode that caught my attention. Tim who is Robbie’s son had a passion and dream to become successful in the Music Business his mom had been a background singer for Ike & Tina Turner she was a Ikette until her lungs collapsed. In this episode Tim has an opportunity along with his group to open for rapper TI. In the scene before they go on stage to perform he and his group prayed and asked God for his blessings and help in order to perform at their best. For most this would appear to be proper and in order. Yet when Tim and his group perform they had to bleep out some of the words.
My Dad told me that my Grand Dad always said that you can’t say Good God and Good devil. Some people don’t realize that God gives us our talents, gifts, and abilities however it is totally up to us how we use them and who we use them for. In our scripture we see that when we love the world and the things of this world that God is not in or with us. Scripture also says (Matthew 6:24) No one can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (MKJV). No man is able to be servant to two masters: for he will have hate for the one and love for the other, or he will keep to one and have no respect for the other. You may not be servants of God and of wealth (BBE). God gives us talents, gifts, and abilities but he does not force us to use them for his glory or the better meant of mankind. It is up to us how we use what God has given us and just because we are successful does not mean that God is pleased at how we have used what he has blessed us with.
Daily we are faced with decisions not only about how to use what God has blessed us with but how we are going to live our lives. In Joshua the 24th chapter Joshua addresses the people, God has delivered on his promise to them and they are now in the Promised Land. He reminds them of the sins of their fore fathers and how God has blessed them with houses that they had not built and had given them a land full of plenty which they did not labor for. He then gives them a choice they could either serve the false Gods of their fore fathers or serve Jehovah their God who had done so much for them. He also declares that he and his family would serve Jehovah their God. Whether you realize it or not daily you make a choice as to who you are serving. Some make this choice by simply not making a choice, no one really knows who or what they are really about. The life that you live along with how you treat others and use what God has given you actually lets people know whose side you are on. For some you are actually trying to live a life where you say good God and good devil because you go back and forth. If you want God to truly bless you and if you want to get the maximum out of this short-lived life a life that the apostle James describes as a vapor. Then you must declare, you must take sides and I don’t mean liberal or conservative you must Boldly declare that you are on The Lord’s Side.
It makes no difference what you have done with your life up to this point the fact that you are breathing and alive shows you that God has given you the opportunity to make things right. You can start afresh today bury your past and move forward. You can start right now to use what God has given you to be a blessing and gift to the world. You can put hope and happiness into the lives of others by sharing in a positive and uplifting manner what God has given. It’s time for a fresh start time to do something new God has blessed you with gifts, talents, and abilities that are exclusive to you no one can do or be you like you. Take and use what God has given you in a positive manner help make a difference in the lives of others by taking a stand and choosing the right side, The Lord’s Side. He’ll Bless You for it and you’ll find peace and contentment knowing that you’re on the winning side. Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.
