I Have Issues #5 (I Can See Clearly Now)

(Psalms 139:23) Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts,

(Psalms 139:24) and see if any wicked way is in me; and lead me in the way everlasting.

This was my final installment for this particular series of writings when I posted it on Facebook almost a year ago( a new one is coming). Just about everything that I’ve written and posted recently are brief versions of writing that will probably be included in my next book entitled REFLECTIONS, the everyday stuff of life should cause us to stop and think. Things should always help us to grow and become better people. If you like some of the things we’ve been inspired to write I encourage you to visit our website at http://www.8thday.us and purchase our latest book entitled The Storms of Life it is also available on Amazon.com. The purpose of this series I Have Issues has been to help us all focus on ourselves. All too often we look at others and pass judgment when all the time we have our own personal issues that need attention and correction.

It amazes me how messed up our society has become especially many so called Christians. On the one hand you have the Liberals (even Liberal thinking Christians) no matter what you do or have done its okay. So often Sin is celebrated even championed everything is alright and okay. Then you have the Extreme Conservative thinkers and Christians (notice I said extreme because there are some fair minded and balanced thinking Conservatives) always ready to condemn and assign everybody who does not think or act like them to Hell. These are the extremists always leading the witch hunts until they are busted and their short comings exposed.

(Mat 7:3) And why do you look on the splinter that is in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye?

(Mat 7:4) Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the splinter out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye?

(Mat 7:5) Hypocrite! First cast the beam out of your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to cast the splinter out of your brother’s eye.

Here is where we have the problem those in the world see the hypocrisy that is evident in many of our churches. We teach and preach one thing and are often guilty of the very things that we teach and preach against even worst. When someone in the world is guilty of something it is just awful they are the scum of the earth. Now if one of our favorite Christian Heroes does the same thing we have the two extremes. On the one hand let’s pray for them and their family, well the sinner who did the same thing needs prayer just as much if not more so. Then the other extreme the church kicks them to the curb, under the bus, out of sight out of mind.

We all have issues we all sin, however sin should never be championed nor the sinner cast aside. We must never be satisfied with sin especially our own. We need to stop looking at things through our own political and moral agendas and look at others through the eyes of Christ. Many times the people that are most vocal against something have the worst skeletons in their own closet. The way to approach sin is the same way that the Apostle Paul did.

(1Ti 1:15) Faithful is the Word and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

(1Ti 1:16) But for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long-suffering, as a pattern to those being about to believe on Him to life everlasting.

We must teach and preach against sin through our own personal humility. We should never glorify sin or champion it through our confessions and stories. We should emulate Paul and always let others know that we are a work in progress. The world is longing for and waiting for Real People who are Real and True Christians. They are tired of the show, the phonies, those who teach and preach one thing while all the while living what they actually preach against or something else that is out of line with the teachings of Christ.

Finally the church needs to be more adept at restoring those who have fallen. All too often when someone makes a mistake and they are high profile no one wants to be bothered with them. No wonder the world doesn’t want to be bothered with so called Christians the worldly look after and take care of their own, many times as Christians we don’t. Both the perpetrator and the victim’s families often need help yet many times they are neglected. The word of God warns us. (Gal 6:1) Brothers, if a man is overtaken in a fault, you the spiritual ones restore such a one in the spirit of meekness, considering yourself, lest you also be tempted.

(Gal 6:2) Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the Law of Christ.

(Gal 6:3) For if anyone thinks himself to be something, being nothing, he deceives himself.

The world is watching those of us who profess Christ. Are we living the life? Or Are we putting on a show a masquerade? Jesus said (Joh 13:35) By this all shall know that you are My disciples, if you have love toward one another. And remember that (Pro 10:12) Hatred stirs up fights, but love covers all sins. (Pro 28:13) He who covers his sins shall not be blessed; but whoever confesses and leaves them shall have mercy. When we truly look at ourselves and concentrate on allowing God to correct and shape us. When we truly see ourselves then we can clearly see others. Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.
