Remember He’s a Liar

(Joh 8:44) You are of the Devil as father, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.

As we try to daily live life and live out our purpose one of Satan’s common tricks is to convince us that we can’t do what we’ve already done. There are many situations in life where what was once a daily routine or something that we’ve mastered. Because of some life event we may lose our confidence. It could be drive to work after we’ve had an accident. Or eating our favorite food even months after the doctor gave us an all clear after surgery. It might be starting a new job, going to a new school, going up heights after a fall. Satan specializes in lies and fear. Remember the Word of God informs and reminds us (2Ti 1:7) For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Satan is so good feeding us nonsense and babble especially after traumatic life events. He never wants to see us back to normal or being ourselves once again. He does not want us to be successful or to ever enjoy the blessings of doing things the right way. He always wants to feed us with lies, doubt, and fear. He’ll either tell you mentally or via others that “You aren’t smart enough”. When you are. “You aren’t pretty enough”. When you are. “You’ll never make it” When actually you will.

Which brings me to my final point Satan has been around a long time and he knows how God works. He saw firsthand how God took care of and provided for his people even while in bondage. He saw firsthand how he protected them when the plagues were sent on Egypt.  He can sense when God is about to turn things in your favor. So in turn he puts on the pressure sometimes our blessings are much closer than we think. We may have been in a situation for 10, 20, 30, even 40 or 50 years and on day 364 in year 50 God turns everything around. Always remember that God is timeless. This life we are currently living is just a vapor. Eternity is forever and when you know Christ and more importantly He Knows you the best is yet to come not only in this life but the Real Life to come. As I was walking and praying today I was about to tell God how tired I was and his word through The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said (Gal 6:9) And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. I’ve been constantly reminded of this scripture the last 20 years fighting Fibromyalgia. Keep doing your best no matter what comes your way keep believing no matter how long your wait has been. I Thank God I am so much better than 20 years ago and I also Thank Him Now for Total and Complete Healing even though it has not manifested itself yet, it will. Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.

And He Died

(Gen 5:3) And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years and fathered a son in his own likeness, after his own image. And he called his name Seth. (Gen 5:4) And the days of Adam after he had fathered Seth were eight hundred years. And he fathered sons and daughters. (Gen 5:5) And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years. And he died.

Unless you are here when our Lord Returns one thing is certain one day you will leave this life. Death is inevitable yet for many if not most it’s a topic that’s rarely discussed. From the Christian perspective we know that death entered paradise as a result of man’s disobedience as we find in Genesis chapter 3. One interesting thing to note is that the first recorded death biblically was not due to natural causes but to murder. Recently we’ve had numerous situations where lives have been taken before there appointed time. You see I don’t believe that God intends for any of us to die tragically. In fact I believe that in most cases God plans for us to leave this life in similar fashion as my Dad did. He always said that “A True Child of God Can’t Leave This Life until they Give Up The Ghost” Which is pretty much how he left here. He quoted John 17 the chapter where Jesus ask God to watch over his disciples said his goodbyes to my mom and brother then transitioned.

Adam lived a total of 930 years yet he was not the oldest person on record in the Bible. That distinction went to Methuselah who lived 969 years he was a descendant of Seth whose name meant appointed. Methuselah’s dad was Enoch whose name meant dedicated which pretty much summed up his life. He was so dedicated to God that he never tasted death. Now it has been said that one way to explain the meaning of Methuselah’s name is “When He Is Dead It Shall Be Sent”. It has been said that Methuselah died the year of the flood and his Grandson was Noah. Of course whose name meant rest and comfort Noah built the Ark and he along with his family survived the Great Flood which destroyed all creatures and humanity save those safe in the ark. So from the time of the birth of Seth appointed by God and Joseph the earthly Father of Jesus who was one of Seth’s descendants. God had a plan to deliver mankind from the penalty of death. Because of that plan Death was never intended to be final as God never intended for anyone to die. However man let death enter into paradise via Adam’s sin. I believe one reason people lived so long prior to the flood is because God never intended for us to die. However because of sin the number of mankind’s days here on earth were shortened.

Nature itself gives witness to the fact that life recycles thus we must believe that there is something after this life. So why are we afraid to discuss death especially since it is inevitable? (Job 14:14) If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. Job asks the question and the Apostle Paul provides us with an answer. (1Th 4:13) But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. (1Th 4:14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will also bring with Him all those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. (1Th 4:15) For we say this to you by the Word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall not go before those who are asleep.
(1Th 4:16) For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first. (1Th 4:17) Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. And so we shall ever be with the Lord. Notice the Apostle Paul refers to those who have died in Christ as being asleep. Just as Jesus referred to Lazarus. I don’t believe as many do that our loved ones who have made their transition from life to Life eternal are aware of what is going on in this world. I believe they are at peace in the presence of the Lord. So if we believe the Word of God then there is life after this life.

Solomon the wisest man to ever live made this statement. (Ecc 7:1) A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth. Why is the day of death better than one’s birth? The Apostle Paul once again helps to explain this. (2Co 5:6) Then being always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body, we are away from home from the Lord; (2Co 5:8) then we are confident and we are pleased rather to go away from home out of the body, and to come home to the Lord. As Christians living in a sinful world we are actually away from home. Once we accept Christ as our savior heaven not earth becomes our home. So the day of our physical death is actually better than our birth because we finally go home.

Over two thousand years ago they falsely accused our savior, they beat him beyond recognition, they crucified him then buried him in a borrowed tomb. He didn’t stay there three days later he walked out of the tomb. He’s coming back real soon for all of those who have put their faith and trust in him. Because he arose and yet lives our loved ones who have transitioned really are at peace. No more pain, suffering, disappointment, or trials of this life. There is a Great Day Coming and we’ll be reunited with friends and loved ones who have gone on before. I’ll see dad and mom again I’ll finally meet my grandparents from both sides who I never had a chance to meet. What a day that will be when all of us who know Jesus as savoir and Lord are finally home Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.

Go Left Not Right!!!!

(Pro 3:5) Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding.(Pro 3:6) In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

On Yesterday I wrote my first blog for this year 2016 if by chance you happened to read it you know that I had a fender bender, literally. I was cited however as I reflect more and more I will probably fight the citation. As I stated yesterday the officer noted that I had not been cited since 1998. I’m a careful and cautious driver yet what happened yesterday happened. Just as with trouble and problems I try my best to avoid accidents of any kind be they traffic or whatever. However, what troubles me the most about yesterday is that the whole incident was totally avoidable. Not due at all to my driving skills or lack thereof as I’ve stated I’m a cautious driver. The whole thing could have been avoided had I heeded that still small voice. The one that spoke to me and said go left not right.

I was leaving an unfamiliar branch of one of the banks I have an account with. There were two ways that I could have exited. One way a little longer would have taken me to a traffic light the closer one was right off the avenue. How often in life do we take the shorter easier path? As noted in another one of my teachings (Pro 14:12) There is a way which seems right to a man, but the end of it is the ways of death. https://ministermike.wordpress.com/2014/10/15/go-the-other-way/ Sometimes we need to go the other way or take a different path. Sometimes we need to as Pastor Walthall said in this year’s first sermon. Sometimes we need to try something new. Or as First Church of God’s theme this year states it may be “Time For Change” our scripture text encourages us to first trust God with everything in us and not lean to our own understanding. Secondly it advises us to acknowledge God in all that we do in order to take the right path.

I am ever so Grateful and Thankful I had just a fender bender and not a serious accident at the same time I wish I had heeded that still small voice and went in the other direction. I would have had a green light when I entered the intersection and probably would not have experienced the accident at all. As we journey through life it is so important that we constantly seek God’s guidance even when it comes to little things. God does not want us to experience many of the things we go through in life. Yes there are trials, yes there are tests, and life is what it is. We live in an evil world full of evil people and evil places. Yet scripture assures us that (Rom 8:37) Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

There are times in life when we need to go left, then there are times we need to go right. At other times we need to go straight ahead. Then there are times when we just need to keep still and be patient. With the Lord’s help along with his Grace and Mercy I’ll get through this latest setback. At the same time, I must remind myself to stay prayerful and mindful of the fact that there are always pitfalls and situations ahead. However, when I remember to acknowledge God in everything that I do and heed that still small voice everything will be alright!!! Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.

It’s Not That We’ve Been So Good

Are You Stiffnecked?

(Deuteronomy 9:4) Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee. (Deuteronomy 9:6) Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.

As I reflect on the blessings of a New Year I’m reminded of a passage of scripture that I read not too long ago. Our scripture text is found where the children of Israel had been wandering in the wilderness for almost 40 years. Moses is letting them know that soon they would be crossing over into the Promised Land. As we are now well into the New Year I reflect on this text. We are blessed not because we are so good or so deserving. In our scripture text Moses reminds the Children of Israel that they are not going to inherit the promised land on the merit of their righteousness. He points to the fact that God is driving them out because they are so wicked. In other words, they weren’t exactly saints themselves they just were not as wicked as the current inhabitants of the land.

I’m often reminded of the Apostle Paul and often quote him as he said (Rom 7:18) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. (Rom 7:19) For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Today I got into a minor car accident thankfully no one was injured. The Police Officer noted that I had not been cited for any accidents since 1998. I’m a very cautious driver and try my best to avoid accidents by taking my time and being cautious. I do plan on fighting the citation because I don’t believe I was at fault. That being said I still find myself in the situation that I’m in. You may be in situation no fault of your own just in it.

All of us receive daily a measure of Grace and Mercy none of us are so good or so righteous we all sin we all have issues. As Pastor John Walthall said the first Sunday of this year you may not do a lot of sinful things but if folks could just read your mind boy would they be surprised. I’m thankful everyday things are as well as they are. I also strive every day to be a better person. Some days are better than others. Some days I miss the mark however God’s Grace awaits me and he’s there to pick me up whenever I fall. All of us need to do a better job looking inward instead of outward because none of us have it all together. I truly believe that a lot of church folk today are just like the Children of Israel they are stiffnecked people. Always looking down on others even fellow believers in Christ.

I’m reminded of a story shared to me by a pastor friend of mine who did a lot of outreach involving local area prostitutes. One Sunday some of them came to church and were not very well received because of the way they were dressed. One of the deacons made a comment to which one of the prostitutes responded that he did not have a problem with the way she dressed the night before when they were together. The Battered, The Broken, and The Bruised should always be welcome in the House of Prayer. As I stated none of us have it all together and the same measure of Grace that God daily gives to us we should extend that same measure of Grace and even more to those who need it the most. Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.

I’m So Thankful, How About You?

(Col 3:15)  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you also are called in one body, and be thankful. (1Th 5:18)  In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (Ezr 3:11)  And they sang, praising and giving thanks to Jehovah, because He is good, for His mercy endures forever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised Jehovah, because the foundation of the house of Jehovah was laid. (Mar 14:23)  And taking the cup, giving thanks, He gave to them. And they all drank out of it.

Once again we are blessed to experience another Thanksgiving Day. A time when family and friends gather together to share meals and memories. At the same time for some as with many special days for some this is a time of depression.  However when we look at our scripture text found in Col 3:15 we’re encouraged to let the peace of God rule in our hearts and to be thankful. While this may be difficult because what you’re going through remember that nothing in life catches God by surprise. God loves us and cares for us and his desire is always for good in our lives.

We should always give Thanks as things could always be worse. When we trust God and exercise our Faith when we hang in there things will get better because that is what God desires for us (3Jn 1:2) Beloved, in regard to all things I pray that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. Along with our thanks we should always incorporate praise. Praise and Thanks go hand in hand as they complement each other. Our Lord gave thanks as he broke bread with his disciples in his last meal before he gave up his life for you and for me. Just think about what must have been going through his mind. He was about to be betrayed tortured and crucified. Yet with all that he was about to face before he part takes in his final meal he pauses and give thanks.

That act speaks volumes to us no matter what we are going through or may eventually go through. It pales in comparison to what our Lord went through yet he paused before the inevitable to give thanks. How can we do any less no matter what challenges we face in life. We all have so much to be thankful for some more than others. So as we progress through the day and throughout the upcoming holiday season and New Year. Let us remain thankful and continue give God Praise for Life and all of his many, many blessings. Happy Thanksgiving Minister Mike.

NOBODY KNOWS

(Mat 24:36) But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not the angels of Heaven, but only My Father.

Anyone who has been watching Christian TV, read Christian magazines, or visited various Christian websites. There has been a lot of attention to End Time Prophecies. You are probably familiar with some of the popular preachers and teachers who specialize in this area. There has been a lot of talk about this particular period we are currently in. Some feel that there is End Time significance to the Pope’s visit to America and his meeting with President Obama. We are also in the season of Jubilee. Then this weekend there will be super or as many refer to it a blood moon. I’ve always found End Time Prophecy to be interesting and I feel that the Lord is soon to come.

It’s worth noting how many so called End Time Prophecy experts tend to tie their observations and opinions to the conservative agenda. Some tie President Obama to their various predictions. In my personal studies unlike some End Time experts I have found no mention of America in End Time Prophecy. I don’t consider myself an expert and could be wrong. What I do know is that God’s word does provide us with clues as to events that will lead up to the Lord’s return. (Mat 24:3) And as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the world?(Mat 24:4) And Jesus answered and said to them, Take heed that no man deceive you.(Mat 24:5) For many will come in My name, saying, I am Christ, and will deceive many. (Mat 24:6) And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for all these things must occur; but the end is not yet. (Mat 24:7) For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places. (Mat 24:8) All these are the beginning of sorrows. It’s worth noting that Jesus said the aforementioned events would be the beginning of sorrows.

(Mat 24:11) And many false prophets will rise and deceive many. (Mat 24:12) And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many will become cold. As we hear all the various prophecies and predictions Jesus has already warned us that there would be many false prophets. Dates come and go with many prophecies and predictions not being fulfilled. Yet people continue to buy books, DVD’s, and send donations to these same people. I feel that most if not all of the current prophecies and predictions are going to fall flat. God has not revealed anything to me it is just my opinion. I base it on the fact that when we study scripture I cannot ever recall reading where a prophet profited from their prophecies. God’s warnings to his people throughout scripture came without any price. You didn’t have to give the prophets of old a special offering in order for you to get their latest prophecy on scroll. We live in a society where many have grown indifferent and cold when it comes to true Christianity and God’s word.

Signs are everywhere letting us know that the end is probably much sooner than most think. However as Christians while it’s exciting watching scripture unfolding before our eyes. We should be working that much harder doing the Master’s work. Jesus said as much (Mat 24:45) Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord has made ruler over His household, to give them food in due season? (Mat 24:46) Blessed is that servant whom his Lord shall find him doing so when He comes. While scripture does provide us with information as to what the world will look like when the Lord returns. (Mat 24:36) But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not the angels of Heaven, but only My Father. (Mat 24:37) But as the days of Noah were, so shall be the coming of the Son of Man. (Mat 24:38) For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark. (Mat 24:39) And they did not know until the flood came and took them all away. So also will be the coming of the Son of Man.

I believe after all of the predictions and prophecies fall flat the world will most likely grow even colder and unbelieving. The Apostle Peter gives us insight (2Pe 3:3) First, knowing this, that there will come in the last days scoffers walking according to their own lusts (2Pe 3:4) and saying, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation. (Mat 24:44) Therefore you also be ready, for in that hour you think not, the Son of Man comes. In Matthew Jesus is speaking to his disciples at the same time he’s speaking to us. Should all the current predictions and prophecies fall flat even many Christians may become lax. It is so important to do our best each and every day making sure we are about the Masters’ business in case you don’t know here is what he’s concerned with.

Many Evangelical Christians are very critical of the Catholic Church and the Pope. However the Pope is actually spot on when it comes to the mission of the church. Our main goal is to spread the Gospel and follow the mandate that Jesus is so concerned about. (Mat 25:34) Then the King shall say to those on His right hand, Come, blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.(Mat 25:35) For I was hungry, and you gave me food; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you took Me in; (Mat 25:36) I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me. (Mat 25:37) Then the righteous shall answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungry, and fed You? Or thirsty, and gave You drink? (Mat 25:38) When did we see You a stranger, and took You in? Or naked, and clothed You? (Mat 25:39) Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and came to You? (Mat 25:40) And the King shall answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you have done it to Me. We are definitely living in a very exciting time as daily scripture is being fulfilled right before our eyes. Let’s double even triple our efforts to spread the Gospel and help those who need our help as The Master expects us to. Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.

Straight Outta Nazareth!!!!

(John 1:46) And Nathanael said to him, Can there be any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.

Just about anybody anywhere who has been paying attention to the latest movies is aware of the highly successful movie Straight Outta Compton. To date it has grossed an estimated $147,166,000 worldwide. The Faith Based movie War Room beat it out this past weekend while War Room doing well at $24,793,993 Straight Outta Compton has done extremely well. It is also the number one Music Biopic of all time beating out the previous number one Walk the Line by over 20 million dollars so far. After watching the movie myself I came away with a better understanding as to why groups such as NWA had the attitudes that they did. Were there any socially redeeming qualities in this movie probably not; however it did tell their story.

As with many Music Biopics there was plenty of drugs, booze, sex, and carnality which pretty much goes with the territory. Sad to say the same type of activities while not on the scale depicted in Straight Outta Compton can be attributed to some Christian Artists as well as some Preachers. So I’m not going to get on a religious soap box and talk about the sinful depraved lives of rappers. What I will note is how anyone be they a rapper or just an average person who grew up in such an environment. I’m here to inform you that Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior can relate to you. He understands the pain of growing up in such an environment. Scripture tells us that (2Co 8:9) For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, for your sakes He became poor, in order that you might be made rich through His poverty. For the majority if not all of his three year ministry he was probably homeless. (Mat 8:20) And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head. Sounds like a homeless person to me.

Our scripture text lets us know that Jesus came from Nazareth and as we read the verse it appears that Nazareth didn’t have the best of reputations as a city. It is amazing how back then people were the same as they are now. As Pastor John Walthall would say “Times Change but People Don’t”. To this very day people will have their opinion of you simply from what area of town or what city you happen to come from. I find it interesting that the savior of the world did not come from posh surroundings but from a troubled area. That’s because his mission, his purpose was to save that which was lost. He came to heal those who were hurting and suffering to provide them with hope and a better life not only here but throughout all eternity.

It’s sad that many see Christians as mean hypocritical people, some fail to emulate and show the Love of Christ especially to those who need it the most. A pastor friend once shared with me a story of how when he was pastoring in a city. He would often go down on cold nights and pass out coffee and donuts to the prostitutes. Eventually some of them started to attend the church he pastored. Well the church members didn’t like the prostitutes attending services he tried to explain to them the purpose of the church was to help such people. Eventually he wound up leaving the church. I’m sure if Jesus were ministering today he’d surprise people when it came to where he ministered. Instead of the local Mega Church you’d probably find him ministering outside of the Gay Bar located down the street from Hooters. Scripture tells us (John 1:10) He was in the world, and the world came into being through Him, and the world did not know Him. (John 1:11) He came to His own, and His own received Him not. Jesus was not well received by the very people he came to die for. However that did not keep him from fulfilling his mission. Can you imagine what it had to be like to spend according to most accounts three and a half years helping folks some who would eventually agree to your death and crucifixion? How often do we hold grudges against people, won’t even speak to them all over something silly and trivial? Jesus expects so much better from us because he suffered and endured so much more.

As Christians we should be descending on the Compton’s and the Nazareth’s around the world trying to help those who society prejudges and looks over. Churches and church folk everywhere are concerned about everything except what the master is concerned about. I wrote a blog about God’s Political Agenda. I recently read a lot of blogs and opinions as to where this country is headed. Some feel that the church here in America is headed for persecution. I am more inclined that the church is headed for judgment because many have compromised their divine mission and mandate. Even satan has no desire to persecute what he’s infiltrated so well. Churches where a watered down gospel is preached are no threat to satan and his kingdom. There was a saying some years back “I’m Okay you’re Okay” well the truth is I’m not okay and neither are you. I wrote a whole series in the past entitled I have issues and I do but so do you!!!

Many of us myself included do more harm to ourselves than anyone else does. In the movie Straight Outta Compton some of the lyrics were brutally raw and honest. It conveyed how they truly felt and depicted their lives. Providing a glimpse of what it was like living and growing up in Compton. The Bible is brutally honest however it also provides us with hope and deliverance from all of society’s ills. It provides us with a path to healing whether we need physical, emotional, or mental healing the answers are there. I’m telling you whatever you need whatever you’re looking for it’s there. There are many practical applications that can and will help you in this life.

Years ago Pastor Marvin Winans, recorded a song it was almost like a cheer it simply said J-E-S-U-S, J-E-S-U-S, J-E-S-U-S, JESUS, JESUS. Yes there is someone who came out of a bad area who taught and lived amongst the worst of the worst. Yet he gave sight to the blind, healed the sick, and raised the dead. He went about doing good yet folks hated him they didn’t like him. So they killed him, crucified him one day on a cross he hung there and died. They tell me he was put in a borrowed tomb but he didn’t stay there three days later he walked out of the tomb. Later on he ascended to heaven where he is right now. However he’s preparing to head back this way and when he comes back this time he’s going to set things straight. I’m glad he’s my friend I’m on his good side nothing that I did so good or so special. He just offered me his friendship and I accepted. When he comes back should I still be around I’m going back with him next time he leaves. I’m going to a place that he prepared for me and countless others. I hope that you’re one if not just reach out right now in your heart and say “Jesus I want to be one of your friends” I accept the gift of your unconditional love and friendship. You provide the only way to true happiness and joy. Forgive me of my past and my present sins I’m all yours please come into my heart”. Welcome to the family of the man from Nazareth the true King. Now pray and ask the Lord to guide you to other family members that will accept you and help you Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.

WHEN SATAN COMES!!!

(John 10:10)  The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

It has been quite some time since I’ve written anything; a lot has been going on in the world especially here in the US. We’ve had the recent tragedy where 9 people were senselessly massacred while in of all places Bible Study. Then there has been the Supreme Court decision which opened the door for Gay Marriage. The continued what many consider an assault on African American males and the Global Threat of ISIS.

As we look at our scripture text we are informed that the goal and purpose of a thief is to “steal and to kill and to destroy”. For the sake of this teaching we’re going to give that thief a name “Satan”. When negativity comes into our lives we must always remember the source of all evil is satan. His desire for all of us is evil not good he hates the fact that through Jesus Christ mankind received something that he’ll never have redemption. We are redeemed via the Blood of The Lamb. So while he cannot have our souls he does everything in his power to make our lives miserable. satan is relentless and he never plays fair he could care less what age you are it makes him no difference if you’re 3 months or 103. His goal and his mission is “steal and to kill and to destroy”. Remember the story of Job where God instructs him that he could have his way with him except he could not take his life. We fail to realize that when we live our lives outside of God’s standards and his will we leave ourselves open to satan’s assault and he can kill us!!!

However we also find in our scripture text that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ came so that we might have life and have it more abundantly.  I recently lost a dear cousin who really “was the salt of the earth”. During the latter stages of his illness while he was in hospice this verse was in my spirit almost daily. So I figured that was the Lord telling me that he was going to make it. I was confused after he finally made his transition. Why had the Lord constantly put this verse in my spirit? He knew that my cousin was going to make his transition yet this verse kept reassuring me in my spirit. As I reflect now maybe what God was showing me is that my cousin’s illness nor any disease or illness that attacks any child of God. These events in our lives are not God’s will for us. They are in many probably most cases the attacks of satan.

So what can we do? Well scripture tells us   (Isa 54:17) No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. We are also instructed  to (Eph 6:11)  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Eph 6:12)  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. satan for those of you who follow my blog I often neglect to capitalize the name satan. I do this on purpose because as believers while satan is a formidable and powerful adversary. (Rom 8:37)  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

However often in life satan just bulldozes and has his way with us because we don’t exercise our Faith. While the Word of God is true and we say that we believe it, often it applies to everyone but us. Our scripture text informs us that Jesus came and died then rose from the grave in order that we might have life and have it abundantly. So what are you going to do? Are you going to continue to let satan  run rough shod over your life? My Dad always said that we should “get serious with The Lord”. It is TIME OUT for us to continue to allow satan to have victory after victory in his battles against us. We’ve got power through the Holy Spirit; we have everything that we need to constantly defeat satan no matter where he attacks us in our lives. It is up to each and every one of us to do the things that we need to do then leave the rest up to God. Abundant life is there and waiting for you it is within your grasp, seize it take it embrace it because it’s yours. Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.

Almost Spring!!!!

Psalms 30:5) For His anger is only a moment; in His favor is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. (Psalms 40:1) To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for Jehovah; and He bowed down to me, and heard my cry. (Psalms 40:2) He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet on a rock, and gave sureness to my steps.

Well it’s just a few more days and it will finally be Spring!!!! While locally we did not have the record breaking snow like last year. February came close to breaking the record. It has been cold this winter and personally for someone who walks almost daily being cooped up inside has not been fun. In other parts of the country there have been record breaking snow and cold. So I’m sure many felt as I did a few weeks ago when I posted on Facebook “Come on Spring”  “Come on Spring”  It is both comforting and assuring that Spring is just a few days away.

We can equate our lives to the seasons there are periods in our lives when just like the winter months. Our lives become stagnant and it seems like there is no possibility for change and growth. However my Dad always said “You know what the Bible says?” “No Good Thing Will God withhold”. Let’s look at the verse in its entirety and the following verse (Psalms 84:11) For Jehovah God is a sun and shield; Jehovah will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. (Psalms 84:12) O Jehovah of Hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You. God won’t withhold “Good Things” from us especially when we trust him!!!

In our scripture text we see the often quoted scripture “weeping may endure for a night but Joy comes in the morning. Winter months sometimes are like endless night always cloudy with very few days of sunshine. Yet every year without fail Spring comes!!! For some of us the trials and tribulations of life appear to be endless. There is one thing after another and we don’t seem to ever catch a break. Personally should the Lord allow me to see next week it will mark 19 years of battling Fibromyalgia. I Thank and Praise God that it’s nowhere near as bad as it was however it’s still with me. Almost daily I Thank God that things are as well as they are and I Thank him for total healing even though it has not manifested itself yet.

In our other base scripture we see where the Psalmist has prayed to God and God has answered his Prayer. He delivered him from the pit and placed him on a solid rock. I thank a friend and co-laborer of mine for sharing this scripture as part of her personal testimony(Thanks Alice). During the winter it is so easy to loose our footing as we venture out and walk especially when we don’t have the proper footwear. However in the Spring as things warm up it’s not as slippery even during the rain. It takes Prayer and Faith to make it through the trials of life. Even when we lose our footing and slip, thankfully The Holy Spirit is there to pick us up every time we fall. So no matter what you’re going through, keep fasting, keep praying, keep looking up Spring is Coming. Every Spring brings New Life and God’s Going to breathe fresh life in your situation Be Encouraged and Blessed Minister Mike.

A Real Super Sunday

Mark 10:34) And they will mock Him, and will scourge Him, and will spit on Him, and will kill Him. And the third day He shall rise again.

Last week this time for the second straight year The Super Bowl drew a record audience. Prior to the Super Bowl here is what I posted on Facebook “Does God Care about Sports games we may soon find out. On the one hand you have Tom Brady who in his own words says “We’re not Jewish,” Brady told Leibovich. “But I think we’re into everything. … I don’t know what I believe. I think there’s a belief system, I’m just not sure what it is.” On the other hand you have Russell Wilson a devout Christian who you could clearly see was praying during the singing of the National Anthem. This should be interesting!!! So the question is can God get The Glory in a Super Bowl?

Well anyone who watched the game and many who didn’t know of how it was one of the most competitive and exciting Super Bowls ever. You may have also heard about the infamous call on the last play of the game. It is a call that will probably be part of Super Bowl lore for years to come (should the Lord tarry as the saints of old would say). However for those who were rooting for Russell Wilson they were disappointed as he threw an interception on the final play clinching a win for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. So what were the Super Bowl ratings in Heaven? First of all contrary to popular belief I don’t believe that our loved ones who have gone on before us are aware of what is going on here on earth. When a child of God translates from this life to life eternal as the Apostle Paul Said (2Co 5:8) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Our loved ones are with the Lord and I believe they are not aware of what is going on here because this world is still a very stressful and wicked place. Some people use the following scripture as proof our loved ones are aware of what’s going on. (Heb 12:1) Therefore since we also are surrounded with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Now I believe this scripture is referring to the Heavenly hosts as well as Old and New Testament Saints. That being said as with all things in life there is a record of the Super Bowl and the conduct of all those who participated as well as those who watched. However I’m really not sure if the Holy Spirit is involved directly in any sporting event. At the same time Tom Brady who clearly is not a Christian won his 4th Super Bowl and Russell Wilson had probably his most disappointing loss of his young professional career. Yet it’s probably what he did the following Tuesday that received merit in Heaven. Just like many other Tuesdays Russell Wilson was found visiting sick children at Seattles Children’s Hospital. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/05/russell-wilson-childrens-hospital_n_6621804.html He is doing one of the things that Jesus is concerned about according to scripture (Mat 25:36) I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.

There is no sporting event or any event for that matter that can compare to what our savior went through. Just as with the Super Bowl everyone was probably talking about the upcoming crucifiction. Word had spread that the young Rabbi that had performed many miracles restoring sight to the blind, healing the lame, even raising the dead. This young man was scheduled to die on a rugged cross. He was popular and recently the crowds were yelling “Hosanna ; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Now people were saying “crucify him” he could have called legions of angels from heaven to come to his aide but he didn’t. Just as was foretold in our scripture text they mocked Him, they scourged Him, they spat on Him, and killed Him. However the story doesn’t end there because unlike times before this story had a different outcome. You see he didn’t stay in the grave early on the third day he arose from the grave.

Throughout the centuries death was undefeated anyone who got away wound up coming back again. This time it was different death had met its match Jesus died stayed in the grave but early Sunday morning he got up with all power in his hands. What a Super Sunday Morning because Jesus over came you and I can overcome. Sickness, problems, trouble, confusion, even death itself we can overcome because Jesus over came. We are no longer bound by the troubles and cares of this world because once you accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord you obtain assurances of all the promises that he made. (Luke 18:29) And He said to them, Truly I say to you, There is no one who has left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children for the sake of the kingdom of God,(Luke 18:30) who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and, in the world to come everlasting life.
